Hugh is the Chairman of The Bizcom Group Inc. He is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance consultant with over 12 years of experience in the design and implementation of AI frameworks and model development. He currently leads an AI governance consulting firm Bizcom (bizcomgrp.com) assisting organizations in the implementation of regulatory compliance, responsible and ethical AI frameworks and the ongoing monitoring that follows. He is a recognized industry expert in AI Governance, Risk and Compliance.
 
Hugh holds a LLM in Innovation, Law and Technology from U of T Law, and has achieved his ISO42001 2023 (AI Governance) Senior Implementer accreditation. Hugh has also earned his CIPP-C privacy designation from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP); and is an adjunct faculty member of York Osgoode Law where he teaches Data Privacy and AI Incident Response.  Hugh also sits on the Advisory Board of the Digital Governance Standards Institute of Canada on their Ethics and Technical committees and the AI Safety Foundation (AISF) of Canada. Hugh was a founding Advisory Board member of the University of Toronto’s (Rotman) master’s in management analytics program (MMA 2018-2022).

Abdi Aidid is a Visiting Associate Professor of Law at Yale Law School and an Assistant Professor at University of Toronto Faculty of Law. He researches and teaches in the areas of privacy, law & technology and civil adjudication.
 
He received his B.A. from the University of Toronto, his J.D. from Yale Law School, and his LL.M from the University of Toronto. Aidid was previously a litigator at Covington & Burling LLP in New York and Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP in Toronto, and most recently served as the VP, Legal Research at Blue J, where he oversaw the development of machine learning-enabled research and analytics tools.
 
His book The Legal Singularity: How Artificial Intelligence Can Make the Law Radically Better (with Benjamin Alarie) was published in 2023. His scholarship has appeared in or will appear in University of Toronto Law Journal, the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics, the Fordham Law Review, the Journal of Law & Equality, and other journals.

She holds an MBA from Queen's University and an LLM from the University of Toronto Law School, where she specialized in Innovation, Law and Technology. Christine is committed to encouraging the safe and regulated use of technologies to ensure compliance and protect organizations.

Philip Smith

Mr. Smith joined Sanctuary AI in 2021 after 30 years of experience in banking and capital markets at Scotiabank and RBC. Prior to joining Sanctuary, he had a 27-year-long career at Scotiabank, most recently as the Head of Investor Relations. He also served as Global Head of Investment Banking, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Financial Officer of Global Banking & Markets. During his time with Scotiabank, Mr. Smith held a variety of increasingly senior roles in finance, capital markets, investment banking, and wealth management.

 

Mr. Smith is a Director of SE Health, a healthcare services provider, and Don’t Mess with the Don, an environmental stewardship group. He has served as Chair of the Investment Industry Association of Canada, Scotia Capital, Scotiabank Europe, and the Toronto Zoo Foundation. He was previously a Director of the Canadian Business Growth Fund and the Canadian Opera Company. He holds an MBA in Analytic Finance from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from The Johns Hopkins University.

Robin Hunter is a proven life sciences senior executive with more than 30 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. He took his first General Manager role in 2013 with Ikaria Canada inc., a company focused on the care for critically ill neonates, which was acquired by Mallinckrodt pharmaceuticals. After 8 successful years, growing revenue and launching new products, Robin moved on to start up the Canadian affiliate of Tolmar pharmaceuticals. In this role, he established the company in Canada and built all major functions of the business including; supply chain, market access, medical affairs, sales and marketing departments. As a result, Tolmar Canada has the #1 market share in the prostate cancer space and was ranked as the 4th best Oncology company by Canadian Oncologists in an IQVIA survey, a global provider of healthcare intelligence to life science and healthcare industries.

 

Robin has a BSc from the University of Waterloo and attended the Queen’s School of Business, executive development program. He is an inductee into the Canadian Healthcare Marketing Hall of Fame, was awarded corporate partner of the year from the Canadian College of Health Leaders and has been a mentor in the Healthcare Business Women’s Association. Robin currently serves on the board of the Canadian Premature Babies Foundation whose mission is to provide education, support and advocacy for premature babies and their families
